I'm mildly annoyed with myself that I didn't really fulfill my 2013 new year's resolution from last year. Regular blog posts on this blog petered out around May 2013. The last dated post here was from June. That's okay. 2014 is going to be better. No set schedule. I'm gonna post what I want, when I want.
Looking back at 2013, it really didn't start off the greatest, but I think it finished pretty strong.
In April I began working at the local grocery store.
In May, Dan began his internship at a local investment firm and I added a new full-time job at a local law office.
In August, Dan's sister and brother-in-law had their first child, my beautiful niece, Natalie. I also started weekly vlogging with Rachel V.
In September, Dan got to speak at a national actuarial conference in Omaha, Nebraska. I turned 27.
In October I took a kickboxing/weight lifting class (an awesome birthday gift!) and gained a lot of muscle.
In November Dan, was offered his dream job, which he accepted and will start when he graduates in May 2014.
At the end of November my brother Matthew got engaged to his girlfriend Jennifer.
In December my brother married Jennifer in a beautiful Batman-themed wedding up in the frozen tundra of South Dakota. (I should post pictures sometime soon.) It was a lovely, wonderful wedding. Dan and I drove over 840 miles total to get there and back, but it was worth it. We danced and laughed and celebrated with my immediate family the bride's family and it was great!
Dan and I are planning our wedding and we are looking forward to the new life ahead of us.
I don't know what I want to do with this blog. I know I don't want to get rid of it. I might just keep randomly posting here.
I want to be happy. I feel like the ratio of happiness to unhappiness in 2013 was pretty out of balance. It's January 1st 2014, which is as good a time as any to start over and do things that make me happy.
I want to draw and make music and make new friends and build old friendships. I want to try new recipes and read. I want to play through video games and write and make the world a better place. I want to stand up for what I believe and write clear, articulate posts about causes I'm passionate about. I want to get over things in my past that are making me bitter about life.
Also, I'll be starting to teach piano lessons soon and I'm excited to get back into making music.
